THE SELECT/START TRICKS

The Select/Start Trick, more easily known as the Select Trick, is the key to entering Secret Worlds. Before you try doing this with any other game, I advise you now that it won't work. It will only work for Metroid 2.

To perform the Select Trick, move Samus across the screen, preferably down (down is the best way because you don't have to hold the D-Pad, although any other direction will work too). While Samus is moving, begin pressing the select or start button on your Gameboy as fast as you can. I mean, shake your arm! Hit that button as fast as you possibly can! (Drinking a lot of coffe usually helps...) When you press it fast enough, you should notice where blocks or rows have shifted or appeared out of nowhere, and there are sometimes even holes in the walls! These holes are sometimes entrances to Secret Worlds.

If you use a Gameboy Pocket or a Gameboy Color, then it will be a lot harder to do. The best which I reccomend is the use of an original model Gameboy, if accessible. Or another method, which works quite well, is the use of an emulator (available at Zophar's Domain). Keyboard keys are fairly easy press fast :) Or, if you've got a Super NES with a Super Gameboy and a turbo controller, just use the CapCom method (put the turbo controller on the slow motion function, which presses the start button for you!).Before you enter the holes when you open them, keep in mind that they don't always lead to Secret Worlds! Sometimes entering them will trap you in a wall and force you to reset the game, but other times they will lead you to glitched up portions of the games, or Secret Worlds!

Because there are only a few places in the game where Secret Worlds are accessible, the purpose of this site is to tell you where the best places are!

My thanks to Tyler Gregg (tyler_gregg@hotmail.com) for discovering the Select Trick, and also to CapCom (darthfett@ignmail.com) for discovering the Start Trick, and the "CapCom" method! :)
